
From the Smithsonian: "Box of rectal suppositories with an inscription that reads in part “OBTUNDOBULBS” and “OTIS CLAPP & SON, INC.” Otis Clapp (ca. 1820-1886) was a Bostonian, a Swedenborgian, a publisher, and founder (in 1840) of the first homeopathic pharmacy in New England. That firm became Otis Clapp & Son in 1874. Otis Clapp & Son, Inc. advertised Obtundobulbs in the New England Medical Gazette 48 (Dec. 1913); and filed for a trademark on the name in 1924."
